Hurray figured it out

I love this look for a covered patio - truly gorgeous - going to go with something similar - in a way less fashion but this is it - and will put in a ceiling fan......oh how decadent - well that is the plan until I price them out....

Oh how I love this space - just the over all "feel" of it. Can you imagine having as your basement

check out the detail and craftsmanship of the woodwork / trim work and how they have covered the support pole
Check out this bar - I wonder if that is wallpaper or real brick? Check out the detail of trim...

I love love love this room.....

Here it is - the inspiration photo....

I hate blog posts that send me somewhere to find the photo - was determined to show it here for your viewing pleasure....
All photos are of a space created by a husband and wife team - he is the designer and she is the designer - truly talented couple.... http://brookegiannetti.typepad.com/

The mind is churning......

It's been a while since i updated - but then again - what else is new???

Today we headed north for the snowmobile cook-out - just a bunch of people all bundled up cause it was so frigging cold eating really expensive hot dogs and hamburgers.....I have grown to hate snowmobiling.

Decided on the next huge renovation job(s)

  1. get a small shed for the boys to keep their bikes / snowboards / skateboards in

  2. Tear down the gorgeous covered patio currently making the backyard super ugly.dig the foundation - get it sealed so basement will be waterproof

  3. small mudroom addition so people are not tripping over shoes at our back door area.

  4. covered garbage area to the side of the new mudroom.

  5. new set of stairs going into the basement - thinking of taking away the "deadman closet" so we can have a small landing and turn the staircase.

  6. new furnace and water heater - move it closer into the room which is currently the laundry room which will be the furnance / storage room

  7. rip out everything in the basement = to the bare concrete blocks and ceiling - everything must go.

  8. two bedrooms in the basement

  9. laundry room will be where the old kitchen is currently in the basement

  10. next to the laundry room will be a small bathroom with sink / storage / toliet / shower for the boys

  11. small wet bar

  12. nice family room area with an eletrci fireplace and flat screen above.

  13. long term - probably next year - going to build a covered porch area where the ugly one is currently

  14. new patio furniture

  15. outdoor fireplace (if i can convince hubs on this one)

I think i need to win the lottery.......cha ching

I have been searching for inspiration photos for the family area of the basement and have just fallen completely and totally madly in love with a home posted on Velvet and linen....I am so in love: http://brookegiannetti.typepad.com/velvet_and_linen/2009/02/more-1.html

This is the "inspiration" for our basement reno - it will look nothing like this but hope to have the same "vibe"

check out this bar that leads into their wine cellar - oh to have that much money - but then again i am not all that found of wine.....
Now if i could just figure out how to insert the actual photo into here!!!

weekly update

What a week and sure glad it is over.

Some updates in no particular order:
  • Glad this work week is over - all alone but struggled with the fact it was a good thing.
  • Have decided that based on some good advice from the person I stalk that I have to learn to "just let it go". I envy that quality in her and will try my best.
  • kids snowboard lessons are going great.
  • Have decided that we will build a pergola in the back yard - oh so looking forward to spring and gardening and playing in the dirt - not to mention shopping for plants - how I yearn to wander through the garden centres again and watch my garden grow.
  • have decided to change the colour of the shutters and front deck and get a new front door - put it on the to-do list.
  • Cant wait to hear all about the person I stalk's wedding she is going to tonight - i hope she takes pictures.
  • Hubs is outside smashing ice out of our eves - they are solid full of ice and look like they are about to come ripping out of the house.....
  • looking forward to getting the basement foundation dug up and sealed so i don't go into panic mode when warm weather like this hits in the winter and water everywhere - I am so sick of worrying that the basement will flood.
  • have decided to trim down budget to save for above....ugh
  • Have to plan small mud room addition - hubs and i are fighting / discussing getting new basement stairs that will not kill someone like ours are now.
  • Going to friends tonight - looking forward to that. I am making a new recipe to bring with me...... Greek Layer dip with small pitas to dip with.
  • Baby shower tomorrow - looking forward to that. I got the cutest baby clothes last night - was fun and wished stores like that existed when my crew were small like that.
  • Love my new vacuum. It is helping me combat the dog hair - note to self - next dog (if we get one) will NOT SHED.

Well that's about it - off to get something done....and hit the grocery store so I can make the greek layer dip and the kids have something to eat for dinner.

no pretty pictures to look at

Was going to add a photo but realized I never uploaded them and hubs and the kids have headed off to Barrie to watch the snowmobile snow-cross and took my camera....

Updates for the week:

  • Finished Andrews room - hurray - well almost finished - walls need to be painted but that can wait until summer when they are at their grandparents.
  • Bought the vacuum I have been coveting - was on sale @ Canadian tire - hurray - was waiting for this day to arrive. IT is a Bissel pet hair lift off and it works just as all the reviews said it would - Pet hair will be vanished from my house......(that is unless I don't do it enough!) This vacuum is so much better than the Kirby that we have that is over 11 years old.
  • Have to get a baby shower gift for Nicole - baby shower is on Sunday!
  • Have to organize summer camp schedules - will be doing that this afternoon.
  • Went to Supperworks in Oakville and got 13 entrees done - hurray - currently have Greek Market Stew in the crockpot.
  • HAVE TO - MUST get laundry done today - kids have no clean clothes - I am bad.
  • Happy to have house to myself today - that rarely happens.
  • Have discovered the Loblaws superstore - I am in love - who knew you could go grocery shopping and come home with way cool magazine racks and cute kitchen dishes!
  • Kids are doing great in snowboard lessons - look like they actually know what they are doing.
  • Have decided snowmobiling is no longer for me and will be selling it - note to self: Call the damn doctor about my shoulder.
  • Have discovered my love of Mexican foods - it all started with a trip to Moe's for burritos - last night it was Mexicalla Rosa's - I paid 7.99 for a margarita - that is insane!!

Well I think that is about as much fun I can use to describe the past week - work was a rough one.....I am alone in the office this week.....
